Varolii, a Seattle company whose communications software is used by banks, airlines and utilities to send alerts to customers, has named Sharath Dorbala to the postion of vice president of product management and strategy.
Dorbala — who most recently served as a vice president at Amdocs — will oversee product strategy and the development of new cloud-based cross-channel interaction solutions for customers in the healthcare, financial services, utilities, telecommunications and retail industries.

Chinh Dang has been promoted to the newly created position of chief technology officer at The Allen Institute for Brain Science, the non-profit research organized bankrolled by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. Dang joined the Allen Institute in 2004 as Data Pipeline Manager, and has since led the design, development and support of the Institute’s online Brain Atlas resources, a

Viscount Systems, a Burnaby, B.C.-based supplier of security systems and software, announced the addition of Dennis Raefield to the board. Raefield is the former president of Honeywell Access Systems, a $100 million division of Honeywell International. He’s also the past president of Pinkerton Systems Integration.
