Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos likes to preach the merits of customer service. And that near maniacal laser-focus has paid off. According to the Temkin Experience Ratings — which measures consumer interactions with various companies — Amazon.com offers the best customer experience. Interestingly, of the 143 companies surveyed, only 24 received “excellent” or “good” ratings.

And some companies with large operations in the state ranked near the bottom, including Comcast which finished 139th in terms of Internet service and 142nd in terms of TV service. T-Mobile also was in the bottom half, ranking 114th, as was MSN, which ranked 93rd.

The survey was based on responses from 6,000 U.S. consumers who were asked to rate their interactions with companies.

As seen in the chart below, retailers tend to receive favorable ratings while health plans, ISPs and TV service providers score low.
