What’s your Uber rider rating?
That was one of the questions that Uber’s board asked Dara Khosrowshahi during the interview process, the Uber CEO says during a ride-along with the Washington Post’s Geoffrey A. Fowler.
“Toughest question I got from the board during my interview was by Wan Ling (Martello), one of our board members,” Khosrowshahi says. “She said: ‘what is your rider rating?’. I didn’t know right off the bat, but when I looked it up, it was a 4.73, and the board was not happy with that. My hypothesis? I wasn’t wearing seatbelts in the back.”
Fowler took the ride with Khosrowshahi to give the Uber CEO a chance to get the journalist to use Uber again after shifting to Lyft — a great premise for a first-person piece.
In addition to the anecdote from the job interview, Khosrowshahi, the former Expedia CEO, talks about the changes taking place at the ride-hailing company, and Fowler shares what it would take to win back his business.
