Leaked images reveal a new 13.5-inch notebook computer from Microsoft, dubbed the Surface Laptop, running the “Windows 10 S” operating system in advance of an event Tuesday morning in New York City where the company is expected to unveil the products officially.

The images, published late Monday in a series of tweets by regular Microsoft leaker “WalkingCat,” are largely in line with reports and rumors about the company’s expected announcements. The machine and the special Windows version, said to run only Windows Store apps, are viewed as Microsoft’s counterpoints to Google’s Chrome OS and Chromebooks, which are increasingly popular in U.S. schools.

Microsoft debuted its first notebook, the Surface Book 2-in-1 computer with a detachable tablet screen, in October 2015. The company also sells the Surface and Surface Pro tablets as part of its first-party hardware lineup.
The company’s event begins at 6:30 a.m. Pacific on Tuesday, so Microsoft came within a half-day of keeping the cat in the bag, so to speak.
