netflix recommended TVLAS VEGAS – Netflix and LG Electronics introduced a new TV certification program at CES this morning called the Netflix Recommended TV program, aiming to help consumers pick TV’s with an optimized experience for streaming Netflix content.

Greg Peters, Chief Streaming Officer for Netflix, introduced the program, noting that consumers are expecting the same experience on their TV that they are accustomed to on their mobile phone and tablet devices.

Given the huge proliferation of streaming-enabled TVs, DVD players and other streaming devices, clearly Netflix isn’t happy with the wide variation in user experiences that consumers have with their service and are providing a certification program to promote the ones that it thinks are up to their standards.

In addition to LG, other TV makers like Sony, Sharp, VIZIO and Roku are expected to deliver Netflix-certified TV sets this spring.
