Instacart announced today that it has partnered with Natural Grocers to deliver groceries to customers in Portland in under one hour. Instacart will deliver items from Natural Grocers’ Beaverton store to people in Hillsboro, Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin, Lake Oswego and downtown Portland.

Natural Grocers said it will offer delivery via Instacart to its other markets in the future.

naturalgrocers111Instacart launched in Portland this past August and already delivers food from Whole Foods, Costco, Uwajimaya, and Green Zebra Grocery.

The San Francisco-based startup, which lets customers buy groceries online and have them delivered within one hour, raised $220 million last month after reeling in $44 million seven months prior. Instacart is operating in 15 cities and grew its revenue by 10X last year, while doubling from Q3 to Q4.

Instacart charges $3.99 for two-hour delivery, and $5.99 for one-hour delivery when orders of $35 or more are placed. Unlike Amazon Fresh, which operates its own grocery distribution facilities, Instacart employs more than 4,000 personal shoppers who hand-pick grocery items at established stores such as Whole Foods, Costco and Kroger. The company also offers an $99 annual membership that eliminates delivery fees for orders over $35.
