The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has cut 33 jobs in its IT department, the foundation confirmed today in response to an inquiry from GeekWire.

“The foundation’s growth and the changing digital landscape have caused us to rethink the organizational structure of our IT department,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “We are now focusing on smaller, more agile teams and rebalancing our IT investment in new digital technologies. Unfortunately this means that 33 positions are being eliminated.”

All of the affected employees have been notified. The Gates Foundation IT department had 129 people prior to the cuts. Overall, the Seattle-based foundation had 1,376 employees as of March.
