Seattle Police and Fire Department personnel responded to a report Tuesday afternoon of a suspicious package containing a white powdery substance at a mail facility for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

A security guard at the facility did not exhibit symptoms after being exposed to the substance, which was later found to be non-hazardous.

The mail facility is located in the Interbay neighborhood, about two miles from the foundation’s headquarters building.

The package was secured and submitted into evidence. The FBI is taking over investigation, according to a SPD spokesperson.

“We appreciate the quick response to the incident by local first responders and law enforcement,” a Gates Foundation spokesperson said in a statement.

Four county election offices in Washington state were evacuated earlier this month after workers counting ballots received envelopes containing “unknown powdery substances,” Axios reported.
