comcasttruck-cropAs part of a new multi-year plan to “reinvent the customer experience,” Comcast will pay you $20 if a technician shows up late to an at-home appointment.

Comcast announced on Tuesday that it will credit customers $20 if a technician shows up after a scheduled two-hour window. The deal is one of many new initiatives to help Comcast improve its label as the “worst company in America.”

comcastapptracker11The cable giant, which is budgeting more than $300 million for the plan, is hiring “hundreds” of technicians and boosting dispatch operations to improve its punctuality, while adding a total of 5,500 additional customer service jobs by Q3 2015 and three new support centers, one of which will be in Spokane, Wash.

The company is also redesigning its stores and will roll out a way to let people reserve a spot in line from their phone. In addition, Comcast’s app will let customers track his or her technician on a map from their smartphone by the end of this year.

Comcast’s customer service issues were a focus during the discussed merger with Time Warner Cable. Late last month, Comcast dropped its plans to merge with TWC after agencies and regulators, including the Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission, expressed concerns about the deal and its affect on consumers.
