amazonprimenow121Amazon announced today that its Prime Now delivery service is live in select zip codes of Dallas, marking the fourth city where it is offered.

The service, available to Amazon Prime members, offers one-hour delivery for $7.99 and two-hour delivery for free. The service was launched initially in Manhattan and has since been rolled out in Brooklyn. It also expanded to Baltimore and Miami one week ago.

Prime Now is available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is accessed via a mobile app for iOS and Android. It’s part of an ongoing effort by the company to boost Amazon Prime benefits and cover the “last mile” of delivery, an initiative that also includes the Amazon Fresh grocery delivery service, which started in Seattle before rolling out to other cities across the country.

In an effort to speed its delivery process, Amazon has spent the past few years exploring the use of everything from drones to taxi vehicles to storage lockers. Amazon currently offers same-day delivery for some non-Prime Now items ($5.99 for Prime users; $8.99 for others) in a dozen U.S. markets, and recently expanded the service to Canada.

Amazon said Prime Now will expand to other cities later this year.
