Craft beers, bad tattoos and an uber-competitive brunch scene aren’t enough to keep a London guy happy.

Nike chief information officer Anthony Watson quit his gig last week, reportedly because Portland is too boring.

Watson left his cush job for what he called “personal reasons” via Twitter.

Fortune magazine has reported, citing “a source close to the situation” that Watson was unhappy with the social scene (or lack thereof) in Portland. “As a single gay guy from London,” the source says, Watson “underestimated what it would be like. It was a culture shock. And there’s no point in having a great job if you feel unhappy with your surroundings.”

The 38-year-old CIO is one of the first openly gay C-level executives at a Fortune 500 company and arrived at Nike last April from Barclays.

In his Tweets, he said his departure had nothing to do with Nike, calling it a “great company, with amazing people.” He also Tweeted this:

Notice the word “boring” was not included.

Something tells me there’s a great episode coming from this. The only question left is who will play Watson, Fred Armisen or Carrie Brownstein?
