Is anyone in Seattle working today? It sure doesn’t seem like it.
The GeekWire team took a little field trip to downtown Seattle, celebrating the Seahawks’ Super Bowl victory with the rest of the city. The governor was there, and so was the mayor. But the real action came when Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch was spotted on the front of a Duck amphibious vehicle, filming the crowd and tossing Skittles to thousands of fans.
Despite the delays in the parade and an overloaded cellular network, it was certainly a one-of-a-kind experience.
As GeekWire columnist Monica Guzman notes today, Seattle is “having a moment.” And today is all about soaking that in, enjoying the place we call home.
One of my Ohio friends texted me earlier today after seeing a photo of the mayhem in Seattle, noting how a winning sports team can really energize a city, quickly adding: “Not that we would know about that here in Cincinnati.”
In other words, moments like this don’t come around that often. Let’s make the most of it, and keep this Seattle momentum rolling, baby!
