xboxjersey1Microsoft will sponsor the Seattle Sounders FC jerseys for at least two more seasons.

The MLS team confirmed with GeekWire that Xbox will continue to print its logo on the Sounders jerseys through 2016.

The soccer team has sported “Xbox” on its jerseys since the club entered Major League Soccer in 2009 as part of a four-year sponsorship deal. In September 2013, Microsoft extended the partnership for one more season, erasing any rumors of a potential jersey deal with Emirates, the airline that sponsors English Premier League club Arsenal and was interested in teaming with Seattle.

Now, Microsoft will display its logo on Seattle’s jerseys for two more seasons. The original jerseys featured “Xbox 360,” but Microsoft has gone with the simple “Xbox” ever since.

Speaking of Microsoft and soccer sponsorships, the tech giant last month signed a four-year, $30 million deal with Real Madrid, the world’s most valuable and richest sports franchise. Microsoft also has a massive sponsorship deal with the NFL.

Last week, Simple, the Portland-based banking startup that was acquired by BBVA for $117 million in February, signed a unique multi-year sponsorship deal with the Portland Timbers MLS club.
