According to a tweet by T-Mobile CEO John Legere, T-Mobile might be increasing its role in Apple’s mobile ecosystem.

Legere’s tweet sharing his excitement links to an article about Apple’s announcement of its October 22 press event–you know, the one that probably involves iPads. At the moment, T-Mobile is the only major U.S. carrier that isn’t selling cellular-enabled models of Apple’s tablet.

Because T-Mobile has been included in the launch of the iPhone 5S and 5C, it certainly wouldn’t be surprising if they turned up on a list of new carriers supporting the iPad. Because the cellular-enabled iPad is sold without any carrier subsidy, T-Mobile would be on a level playing field with its competitors, which is a significant difference between the tablet and phone ecosystems. Supporting the iPad would also be a boon for luring subscribers away from carriers that provide them with data for both their smartphone and tablet.

Of course, nothing’s been announced yet, and given how privacy-conscious Apple is, that tweet is probably the most about the situation that we’ll get out of Legere before the 22nd.
