instagram-logoWindows Phone owners will soon be able to share all the 7-second videos and filtered photos they could ever want.

Stephen Elop just announced at Nokia World that the official Instagram and Vine apps will arrive “in the coming weeks.”

The announcement addresses a longstanding complaint about Windows Phone. The lack of an official Instagram app, in particular, has become a symbol of Microsoft’s need to catch up to the iPhone and Android.

And this isn’t just for the Lumia line:

iOS has had an official Instagram app for about three years, while it arrived on Android in March 2012. There have been third-party alternatives for both Instagram and Vine on Windows Phone, but finally, official apps are coming to Microsoft’s ecosystem.

Nokia today also announced its first Windows tablet and a giant smartphone.
