Today is Geek Pride Day, that special time of year when geeks around the world — and the people who love them — are encouraged to celebrate their most endearing quirks.
IT staffing firm Modis is back with a new installment of its Geek Pride survey, sampling opinions about geeks and geeky issues from more than 1,000 Americans, including people who identify themselves as geeks and non-geeks.
One of the questions this year reveals a divide on the topic of wearable computing, with 61 percent of geeks saying they will consider purchasing smartwatches, and 56 percent saying they would consider smartglasses. Fewer than 40 percent of non-geeks say they would consider wearing them.
There’s also a divide when it comes to geeks’ perception of themselves as funny and influential. In short, geeks think we’re much funnier and more influential than other people do.
Those are just a few of the findings. See the full report here, and see this Modis blog post for more background.
