iPhone5-34Flat-iOS7_PRINTWhile the world waits for Apple’s third quarter earnings results, the company has just been awarded two new patents that may hold some insight into where the company is headed.

The first patent, “Dual image sensor image processing system and method,” describes a system that uses two cameras and an image processing system to create better pictures. The images taken by the two cameras would be cross-referenced to remove aberrations and artifacts.

The second, “On-hold visual menu from a user’s communications device,” outlines a method of sending content from one iPhone to another when a phone is put on hold. One patent diagram shows a menu that appears with options for the person on hold to view their conversation partner’s photos, status updates and more. While that may seem silly, it seems like an interesting way for people to create a means of entertaining someone who’s waiting on hold, without resorting to Muzak.

While neither technology has appeared in an Apple product yet, both seem to hold potential uses in a new and improved iPhone. Whether they’ll be coming to market soon is anyone’s guess, though.
