Jim Nutt

Fast-growing ClassifiedAds.com has named Jim Nutt — the former director of software engineering at Intellectual Ventures — to the position of vice president of engineering.

“Jim’s extensive experience in building and leading engineering teams makes him the ideal person to head up our development efforts and lead our engineering team during our next phase of growth,” said Chief Operating Officer Eric Thoreson. “We’re thrilled to welcome such a high-caliber pro to our leadership team.”

The hiring of Nutt comes at a period of growth for the company, which is now one of the top online classified ad sites on the Internet with more than three million monthly unique visitors.

Founded and led by Internet entrepreneur Edward Yim, ClassifiedAds.com posted its third consecutive profitable year in 2011. Over the past two years, the company has grown revenue more than 250 percent. It has not taken any outside financing.

At Intellectual Ventures Nutt grew the software engineering team from 25 to more than 60 employees and contractors. Prior to Intellectual Ventures, he served as director of product development at Applied Discovery and vice president of development at CobWeb.

ClassifiedAds.com doubled its staff over the past year to 14 employees with plans to reach 20 staffers by the end of the year.
