The Lil Kikr charging dock comes in three colors

Seattle area designer Mike Kemery has helped design products for Nike, T-Mobile and Yakima Products. But now Kemery, and his wife Ellie, are hoping to make a mark in the world of iPhone and iPod charging docks.

The husband-and-wife team recently unveiled the Lil Kikr, a lightweight and portable iPhone charging dock that’s designed to meet the needs of Apple loyalists. The dock also doubles as a speaker amplification device, with the Lil Kikr able to amplify sound by up to 10 decibels for conference calls or while using Facetime.

In order to jumpstart the effort, the Kemery’s recently turned to Kickstarter in order to raise enough funds — $20,000 — to move the device into production.

There’s certainly no shortage of iPhone and iPod charging stations on the market, including offerings such as the Sync Stand by Sinjimoru.

But Mike Kemery thinks the Lil Kikr — which includes a USB cable and wall plug — will stand out.

“Our difference is style and stability,” Kemery tells GeekWire. “You can actually use your phone in the stand with out
knocking it over.”

The young upstart is currently seeking $50 for the device via Kickstarter, with Kemery saying the actual price of the Lil Kikr will be higher once it goes into full production.

“The premium charging category is gaining traction as Apple mobile device users are demanding better docking solutions,” notes Kemery.
