Hi, it looks like you’re playing a game! Would you like some help?

OK, so thankfully that’s not what happens in Microsoft’s newly released “Ribbon Hero 2” — the sequel to its surprisingly popular training game for its Office programs. But the game does, in fact, feature none other than Clippy, the former Microsoft Office virtual assistant who plagued users of the program for years by popping up with “helpful” suggestions at inopportune moments.

The game was developed by the Office Labs group. The official title: “Ribbon Hero 2: Clippy’s Second Chance.”

Never let it be said that the people at Microsoft don’t have a sense of humor.

Here’s a video from Doug Thomas of Microsoft’s Office Casual blog providing a tour of the new game.

By the way, on the subject of Clippy, this was quite possibly my favorite segment ever on NPR’s “Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me.”
