A few weeks ago, I bumped into Romotive co-founder Phu Nguyen at a geeky tech event in Seattle. Nguyen, who had recently joined the class of TechStars Seattle, was showing off a cool way to control a mini-robot from his smartphone. Intrigued, I had to find out more.

Now, according to a new video posted on Kickstarter, it looks the Romotive team is making some good progress. And folks are responding. The company’s Kickstarter pitch is gaining some traction on Hacker News today, with one reader saying that the technology could help spark a “robotics revolution.”

Let’s face it, robots are cool. So take a look at my chat with Nguyen from the ThingOut geek fest in August. And then, in the second video below, see how a robot also can help spark a new romance.
