Heavily-funded social networking startup Lockerz, which just scored $36 million in venture capital financing, is using some of that cash to expand its online video offerings.

Today, the Seattle company announced it is buying Vodpod.com an other assets from Remixation. The acquisition will allow users of Lockerz to create personalized video channels featuring content from across the web, an idea that Seattle startup Giant Thinkwell also is exploring with the launch of FlickMob.

“The Vodpod site will remain unchanged for the time being, and eventually the service will be integrated with Lockerz,” according to a blog post from Vodpod. “Regardless, you will continue to enjoy the same experience you’ve come to know and love from Vodpod, and in time, will benefit from more innovation as Lockerz develops the product further.  Lockerz is committed to making any transition smooth and seamless for customers.”

Lockerz has raised a total of $66 million to date from investors such as Dag Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, former Microsoft CFO Greg Maffei and others. In July, Lockerz — which is led by former Amazon.com executive Kathy Savitt — purchased social sharing startup AddToAny.

Remixation has seven employees in San Francisco and Portland.  Lockerz has retained the consulting services of a former Remixation engineer who will help with the integration of the Vodpod service. The Remixation team plans to focus efforts on Showyou, a new social video discovery application for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
