Kalshi ordered to shut down sports and election prediction markets in Washington state by Sept. 2

A Seattle judge ordered Kalshi to geofence Washington users out of its sports, elections and entertainment markets by Sept. 2, and threatened the prediction market platform with $120,000-a-day penalties for missing the deadline. Kalshi’s motion to pause the order while it appeals was denied at both the trial court and the Washington Court of Appeals. Read More

Kalshi brings in former U.S. solicitor general as Washington state gambling case escalates

Kalshi is still operating in Washington nearly three weeks after a Seattle judge granted the state a preliminary injunction against the prediction market platform. The New York-based company has since appealed to the Washington Court of Appeals and brought in former U.S. Acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal for its defense in a case with national implications.
