Ken, thank you for joining us today. Can you tell us a bit about ALLtech’s involvement in Hike-a-Thon 2024?

Good to be with you. ALLtech has been a proud sponsor of Hike-a-Thon for four years now. We provide health and wellness benefits to Washington’s tech companies, and strongly believe in promoting health and wellness. There’s a good deal of evidence that spending time outdoors benefits both the body and mind, so it’s a natural fit for us. Our involvement in the Hike-a-Thon aligns perfectly with our commitment to supporting the health of our community.

That sounds fantastic. What motivates ALLtech to continue sponsoring this event year after year?

Our motivation comes from our belief in the mission of the Washington Trails Association (WTA). They do incredible work in maintaining and advocating for trails across Washington and believe everyone should have access to, and be welcomed on, our trails. Supporting the Hike-a-Thon is one way we can help them achieve their mission and to give back to our community.

Can you tell us about the impact that Hike-a-Thon has on the trails and the community?

Absolutely. Hike-a-Thon not only raises essential funds for trail maintenance and advocacy but also fosters a sense of community among participants. It’s an opportunity for people to come together, share their love for the outdoors, and contribute to a cause that benefits everyone. The funds raised directly support the work of the WTA.

How can people get involved in the Hike-a-Thon?

There are several ways to participate. You can register for free, either as an individual or as part of a team. The Hike-a-Thon Toolkit provides all the tips and resources you need to get started. If hiking isn’t your thing, you can still support by donating to your favorite team or directly to the WTA. Every contribution helps make a difference.

What role do ALLtech’s partners play in this event?

We’re fortunate to have partners like AP Insurance & Benefit Solutions and Regence who are also sponsoring Hike-a-Thon this year. They also believe in the health benefits of being in nature and supporting the work of the WTA. We’re very grateful for their involvement.

Do you have any personal hiking tips or favorite trails you’d recommend for participants?

There are so many great trails to explore in Washington! I would encourage people to look at WTA’s Hiking Guide and download the TrailBlazer app. Planning ahead by reading the most recent Trip Reports on the WTA website can be very helpful. And of course, I believe strongly in hiking responsibly and leaving no trace.

Are there any final thoughts you’d like to share?

I’d just like to encourage everyone to get involved in the Hike-a-Thon, whether by hiking, donating, or spreading the word. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors, support a great cause, and make a positive impact on our community. We look forward to seeing everyone on the trails this month!

Thank you, Ken, for sharing your insights and for ALLtech’s continued support of the Hike-a-Thon. We wish you and all the participants a fantastic month of hiking!
