To celebrate and bring more awareness to the importance of sustainability, Taiwan Excellence held an interactive 4-day Pop-up event experience in Seattle at Pacific Place called “Sustaining Sustainability: Taiwan Excellence Earth Month.” Taiwan Excellence is an awards program that recognizes the top products coming out of Taiwan annually and the event activities highlighted how making small changes in our everyday lives can help better the planet.

The celebrations kicked off with a grand opening event attended by Taiwanese government and civic leaders and presentations about Taiwan’s efforts in supporting sustainability. Throughout the weekend, guests were treated to the beautiful music of world-renowned cellist, Ian Maksin who played Taiwanese Folk song “Wangchunfeng” as well as a composition he wrote by AI. Sasha Nary, famed baker, award-winning author and TV sensation, dished up some delicious Taiwanese desserts including wheel cakes and pineapple shortcakes that attendees enjoyed as they toured exhibits of award-winning, innovative and sustainable products from Taiwan. Some lucky attendees won Taiwanese gifts and succulents and children received a complimentary copy of “Barlow Explores the Northwoods,” which helps educate children about the beauty and wonder of the outdoors.

The event space featured elements that supported sustainability including using recycled and sustainable materials. And the event celebrated 30 Taiwan Excellence award-winning products that all have a shared focus on building resilience and sustainable futures. Featured products included:

Acer Aspire Vero 15 by Acer Incorporated: A stylish and sustainable laptop made from recycled materials.

Cleantech Solutions by Ju Tian Cleantech Co., Ltd.: A range of compostable and biodegradable products made from sugarcane.

Natural Hair and Oral Care by O’right Inc.: Hair and oral care products made with natural ingredients, free of harmful chemicals.

Eco-Friendly Water Sports Gear by Sun Own Industrial Co., Ltd.: Environmentally friendly water sports gear made from recycled materials.

Innovative E Ink Prism by E Ink Holdings Inc.: Originator, pioneer and commercial leader in ePaper technology.

Sustainable Clothing Collection by Singtex Industrial Co., Ltd.: Clothing made from recycled materials, produced in an eco-friendly manner.

Environmentally-Friendly Notebooks and Packaging by Taiwan Lung Meng Advanced Composite Materials Co., Ltd.: Notebooks and packaging made of stone powder, without any trees cut down in production.

Revolutionary Paper Shoot Cameras by Paper Shoot Technologies Inc.: A revolutionary life-style digital camera that captures film-like photos with eco-friendly, creative innovation.

Durable Ocean Recycling Backpack by Uni-Paragon Enterprise Co., Ltd.: A backpack made from recycled ocean plastic, 100% recyclable.

Attendees were able to experience the products firsthand, including using cutlery and dinnerware from Ju Tian Cleantech to sample the food and delicious baked goods. The response was overwhelmingly positive as attendees learned about Taiwanese culture and the efforts the country is making to produce sustainable products to help preserve our environment.
