Overview

About this role

Seeq is hiring a VP of Engineering to lead the end-user facing half of its engineering organization — a senior seat at a Seattle-founded company that has been fully remote since well before it was fashionable.

Seeq is looking for an engineering leader with a proven track record of managing technical teams and taking them to the next level. The company has a solid set of development squads in place with a good foundation of processes, engineering talent, and a history of delivering best-in-class software. This position will lead the end-user facing squads, roughly half the engineering team, and expand engineering capacity as Seeq continues to grow its customer base and market aspirations. The technology stack utilizes JVM languages (Java, Kotlin), Python, TypeScript/React and some C#/.NET; the core of the product is a full-featured calculation engine that can perform complex math and execute machine learning algorithms on streaming time series data, and the SaaS architecture is Kubernetes based, with clusters in a dozen global regions on both AWS and Azure.

Requirements: a degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent experience; a hands-on technical leader whose skills and knowledge are current from contributing in meaningful ways to technical teams even while advancing in leadership roles; experience in distributed computing and deep knowledge of the cloud ecosystem; and deep experience and knowledge of enterprise software development lifecycles, including Agile methodologies (Seeq generally uses Scrumban), CI/CD pipelines, discovery, design, quality assurance and support. Engineers work anywhere in a compatible time zone, with core hours of 8am-12pm Pacific, and the role involves traveling periodically to spend time with the team.

Competitive salary plus bonus. $290,000 USD base salary (for US-based; local adjustments for other countries).

About Seeq

Seeq makes data analytics software for a big market that’s often overlooked by tech companies: industrial process data — pharmaceutical manufacturers, wind farms, and energy companies with tons of equipment and sensors. The company is remote-first (only), was founded by serial entrepreneurs, and has been certified as a great place to work, an emerging startup, the Technology Fast 500, and one of Inc. Magazine’s Best Places to Work.
