Adam Morse, an electrical engineer building an open-source DER modeling environment, presents a mental model for how the grid actually gets planned, anchored on the Energy Systems Integration Group’s 2025 integrated planning reports and using Puget Sound Energy’s 2021 Integrated Resource Plan as a worked example.
