Parse Biosciences. a Seattle biotech startup developing single-cell sequencing products, announced the acquisition of Biomage, a Scotland-based software developer for single-cell RNA data analysis.

  • Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Parse will bring on about 10 employees from Biomage, bringing its total headcount to more than 100 people.
  • Biomage CEO Adam Kurkiewicz, who helped launch the company in 2019, is now head of bioinformatics at Parse Biosciences.
  • Parse announced a $50 million capital infusion in December.
  • “As more researchers continue to adopt single cell sequencing and expand the size of their projects, analysis can often become one of the bottlenecks,” Parse CEO Alex Rosenberg said on LinkedIn. “Adding Biomage’s capabilities and expertise in single cell analysis and cloud computing will help Parse simplify single cell analysis for researchers.”
