Cognito, a Victoria, B.C.-based startup that provides virtual mental health services, raised $2 million in seed funding.

  • Founded in 2021, the company serves more than 800,000 residents in Vancouver Island to help treat anxiety, depression, insomnia, and ADHD. The new funding will support launching Cognito’s mental health services in Ontario and expanding partnerships.
  • Standup Ventures; Garage Capital; Graphite Ventures; Spring Impact Capital; and Simplex Ventures participated in the seed round.
  • The pandemic spurred a bevy of mental health startups such as Cognito. Funding to digital health startups fell in 2023 amid the broader venture capital downturn.
