— Margaret Arakawa, a longtime Seattle-area marketing leader, joined IonQ as chief marketing officer.

Arakawa was previously CMO at Fastly and Outreach. She also spent two decades at Microsoft in various leadership roles.

Maryland-based IonQ, which is building quantum computers, earlier this year announced plans to open a research and production facility in the Seattle area.

The Bothell, Wash., facility will be the first known dedicated quantum computer manufacturing facility in the United States.

“The quantum industry is at a critical inflection point and it’s clear that now is the time to be part of the journey,” Arakawa said in a LinkedIn post.

Peter Chapman, a former Amazon executive, serves as IonQ’s CEO and president.

— Former Microsoft principal researcher Joseph DeGol joined Irvine, Calif.-based forensics technology startup Steg.ai as chief technology officer. DeGol joined Microsoft in 2018. Steg raised a $5 million round in August.

— Seattle pet insurance company Trupanion added Richard Enthoven as a board member. Enthoven is the founder of The Hollard Insurance Company and is a board director at PetSure in Australia, which previously inked a joint venture deal with Trupanion.

— Adrian Adams stepped down as CEO, president and chairman at Impel Pharmaceuticals, where he led the Seattle biotech company since 2020. Leonard Paolillo, chief commercial officer, is now interim president and CEO.

— Retired Air Force Col. Katie Buss and tech entrepreneur Ben Howard have taken the helm as co-CEOs of Vancouver, Wash.-based KinectAir, which provides a digital platform for booking on-demand private air travel. Read more.

Mark Vasconi, director of the Washington State Broadband Office, is retiring at the end of the year. Vasconi held the post for more than two and a half years, helping administer more than $125 million in grants supporting broadband expansion and digital literacy, and landing $1.2 billion through the federal Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment Program. The office’s Deputy Director Erika Henry will serve as interim director.
