Barry Crist is now board chair of Perth, Australia-based software company Buildkite. Crist is the former CEO and board chair of Chef, a Seattle-based automation technology company that was acquired for $220 million in 2020 by Progress, a business application platform.

Crist also is a board member at Magnify, a Seattle startup that develops tools to help companies engage with software customers, and serves as an advisor to Rossum, a Prague-based cloud business communication company. He was previously the CEO of Likewise, which was acquired in 2012, and worked for Mercury Interactive, McAfee and Apple. Crist is now based in Lopez Island, Wash.

Buildkite also appointed two other new board members: Adam Gross, the San Francisco-based former CEO of Heroku, which was acquired by Salesforce in 2010, and Michelle Deaker, the Sydney-based managing partner at OneVentures.

Buildkite’s products support the building, testing and deployment of software, and enable customers to run pipelines on their own infrastructure. It has more than 1,000 customers, including Chef and other Seattle startups. The company raised $21 million in a Series B round in November. It competes with Microsoft’s GitHub and others.

Alice Steinglass joined Salesforce, where she is executive vice president and general manager of AppExchange and the Salesforce developer experience.

Steinglass worked for more than five years at computer science education nonprofit Code.org, most recently as its president. She stepped down in 2020. Steinglass also spent more than 14 years at Microsoft, including a stint as a leader in the HoloLens Group. She was featured as a GeekWire “Working Geek” in 2018.

— Pay equity startup Syndio appointed tech veteran Suzan (Suzi) LeVine to its strategic advisory board. Levine’s previous roles include commissioner of Washington state’s Employment Security Department and vice president of marketing and sales for Expedia’s Luxury Travel Division. She is also a former U.S. ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Robson Grieve is now chief marketing officer of San Francisco-based fleet management platform company Motive, formerly called KeepTruckin. Seattle-based Grieve was previously chief marketing officer at Outsystem and was formerly an executive at Concur.

Jack Miller, co-founder of medical supply marketplace Bttn, is now an advisor to the company, stepping down from a product and engineering role.
