Everett, Wash.-based OceanGate says it has suspended exploration and commercial operations following the loss of the company’s Titan submersible and its five-person crew during their dive to the Titanic shipwreck last month.

  • Insider first spotted a small message in red font at the top of OceanGate’s website noting the suspension of operations.
  • The U.S. Coast Guard last week recovered debris from the Titan submersible as part of its investigation into the catastrophe.
  • The crew members included OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush; veteran Titanic diver PH Nargeolet; British aerospace executive Hamish Harding; and Pakistani business executive Shahzana Dawood and his son, Suleman.
  • Last week The New York Times detailed the “last hours of the Titan,” while The New Yorker examined how the Seattle-area company “ignored desperate warnings.”
