The 2023 GeekWire Awards will present more than a dozen honors to some of the top innovators, entrepreneurs and technology leaders in the Pacific Northwest when the event returns to Seattle in person and virtually on May 18.

Community nominations are now open — submit here! — and will run until March 3. After that, we’ll open things up to community voting.

Along with Startup of the Year, Next Tech Titan, Young Entrepreneur of the Year and others, we need your help selecting nominees in three exciting categories: Workplace of the Year, UX Design of the Year, and STEM Educator of the Year. More details on who and what we’re looking for:

  • Workplace of the Year, presented by JLL: It’s not just ping pong tables and kegs of kombucha. This year’s winner will display the attributes of an exceptional workplace environment, represented by an unmatched company culture, a dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion and employees whose happiness levels radiate no matter where they are located.
  • UX Design of the Year, presented by Blink UX: A well designed user experience is no longer a nice-to-have option — it’s a business requirement. UX Design of the Year is awarded to a product that has a user experience that is meaningful, usable and delightful for its end-users.
  • STEM Educator of the Year, presented by Bank of America: Our next generation of technologists, entrepreneurs and scientists will help solve some of the planet’s most pressing problems. To help set them on the right course, this award recognizes educators in the Pacific Northwest who are inspiring young minds to achieve more in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math.

Last year’s GeekWire Awards attracted hundreds of nominations and more than 16,000 community votes. GeekWire recognized more than 60 finalists and honorees across 15 categories.

In the above categories, last year’s winners included Bellevue, Wash.-based healthcare software company Edifecs as Workplace of the Year; Seattle HR startup Humanly for UX Design of the Year; and instructors/teachers Devina Khan, Johanna Brown, and Stephanie Winslow shared the STEM Educator of the Year honor.

Big thanks to Astound Business Solutions, now in its 10th year as presenting sponsor of the GeekWire Awards.
