Muge Erdirik Dogan, president of Amazon Fashion & Fitness, is leaving the tech giant to pursue an external opportunity.
Erdirik Dogan spent more than 16 years at the Seattle company, holding leadership positions across retail and logistics. She became president of Amazon Fashion & Fitness in February 2021.
Jenny Freshwater, a longtime marketing leader at Amazon who joined the company in 2010, will replace Erdirik Dogan. Freshwater was most recently vice president of traffic and marketing technology.
Amazon reportedly surpassed Walmart in 2021 to become the biggest apparel retailer in the U.S.
Beyond selling clothes on its online marketplace, Amazon has tested various new fashion services in recent years. GeekWire tried the company’s “Outfit Compare” tool in 2017 and we tested Prime Wardrobe as a new way to shop for and try on clothes in 2018. It also has a sizable private label clothing line.
Amazon said this month that it is shutting down its two “Style” physical clothing stores that opened last year. The “Style” stores did not fall under the Fashion & Fitness business.
