Amie Thuener, Alphabet VP and chief accounting officer, was appointed to Nordstrom’s board of directors, effective March 15.

Thuener has nearly three decades of experience in marketing and accounting. Prior to her current role at Alphabet, Thuener worked for Google as its chief accountant from 2013 to 2018. Prior to Alphabet, Thuener was a managing director at PwC for 16 years. She is also co-chair of Girls Leadership, a nonprofit that serves girls in grades K-12.

Nordstrom, which has more than 350 brick-and-mortar stores, has boosted investment in digital technology in recent years to help raise sales.

Shares of Nordstrom are up more than 30% over the past month. The Seattle retailer beat expectations for its holiday quarter, reporting revenue of $4.49 billion and earnings per share of $1.23. The company’s digital sales accounted for 44% of total revenue in Q4.
