Amazon released the first full-length trailer Thursday for its upcoming Prime Video series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” and it appears to check all the visual boxes for fans of fantasy television. We’ll have to wait to see how the story holds up.

“The Rings of Power” is set in the Second Age of Middle Earth, thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings.”

“Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle Earth,” Amazon said in its YouTube description for the trailer. “From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”

The trailer features an Elven warrior named Galadriel who utters at least one line which could be directed at anyone who thinks we’ve been there and done that with the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

“You have not seen what I have seen,” she says.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been hyping the series for some time. In January he shared a photo of himself posing with a slab of wood with the series title on it — and the internet ran with the Gollum and Sauron jokes. He tweeted the new trailer on Thursday, as did Amazon CEO Andy Jassy.

The eight-part “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will debut on Prime Video on Sept. 2.
