Fox is hoping viewers fall for a new reality competition series called “Domino Masters,” which premieres tonight. The network’s hopes could line up in the Seattle area, thanks to the inclusion of a tech startup co-founder who is competing.
“Domino Masters” features 16 teams of domino enthusiasts who set up elaborate tile structures in a quest to become top topplers. The show is hosted by Eric Stonestreet, the Emmy-winning actor from “Modern Family,” and features a panel of star judges.
Claudius Mbemba is the co-founder of Neu, a Seattle-based marketplace that connects Airbnb hosts with hotel-grade cleaners. Mbemba is competing on “Domino Masters” with two other players on a team called Triathletes.
Others listed with Seattle as their hometowns include Ruby Houchens, Luke Greenway and Tanek Ballachanda.
In each episode, teams will be given a theme and custom elements to incorporate into their topple, according to Fox. Teams who impress the judges the most will progress to the next round. The top teams will compete in the finale for $100,000 and title of Domino Masters.
The show is reminiscent of another Fox reality series that involves building elaborate structures, “LEGO Masters.” On that show, unlike “Domino Masters,” the hope is that things don’t fall over.
Mbemba started Neu in 2018 with Kwame Boler. The two were nominated in 2020 for Young Entrepreneur at the GeekWire Awards.
Mbemba was unable to share any details related to his domino skills until after the show airs.
