MacKenzie Scott’s latest gift is going to the Girl Scouts of the USA, which announced Tuesday an $84.5 million donation — the largest individual donation from a single individual in the 110-year-old organization’s history.
The money will help GSUSA boost its DEI efforts, expand access to STEM opportunities, make “climate-resiliency” improvements at its camp properties, and rebound from the effects of the pandemic, which impacted membership.
Scott, 52, is a novelist with a net worth of $34.9 billion, according to Forbes. She has given away more than $12 billion to a wide range of charitable and nonprofit organizations over the past three years following her divorce from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2019.
Scott recently filed for divorce from her second husband, Seattle school teacher Dan Jewett.
