Jeff Bezos made a surprise appearance at the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles Tuesday night to present an award to film star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and in the process revealed a budding, buff, bald-guy friendship.
The Amazon founder said there were a number of ways to describe Johnson — “larger than life,” “extraordinarily talented,” “the ultimate girl dad,” “strong, handsome, bald.”
“Hey, it’s a good look,” Bezos joked, before adding that Johnson is “impossible not to like” and that the actor’s kindness is what Bezos appreciates most.
Johnson took the stage to accept the People’s Champion award and gave Bezos a big, burly hug. Bezos remained standing several feet away.
“I want to thank my good friend Jeff, my tequila drinking buddy Jeff,” Johnson said. “I really appreciate those words, it meant a lot to me.”
Johnson, living up to that kindness thing, went on to give away his award to a guest from Make-A-Wish Foundation, identified as Shushana.
Bezos and Johnson have hung out previously, as evidenced by an Instagram post Johnson shared in June (below) in which he was wearing an Amazon delivery driver shirt while wrapping his arm around the tech giant’s former CEO (below).
Again, tequila was referenced.
