Tesla is opening a new showroom and service center south of downtown Seattle, marking the seventh location in the region for the electric vehicle maker.

The new location is at 2200 6th Ave. S., at the corner of South Walker Street in the city’s SoDo neighborhood, not far from Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park. A posting on Tesla’s website says there will be a grand opening event Aug. 20 – 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., featuring “test drives, light bites and more.”

Those checking out Tesla’s models will be just across the street from another spot for car geeks. The Shop, the business featuring a space to store and tinker on all kinds of cars and motorcycles, is at 2233 6th Ave. S. The vision of tech veteran Matt Bell opened in 2017 and is home to a restaurant called Derby.

Tesla’s other Seattle showrooms are on Westlake Avenue North in the South Lake Union neighborhood and at the University Village shopping plaza. There are also locations in Bellevue, Wash., Renton and Lynnwood.

Tesla has recently issued apologies for delivery delays for its Model S, according to a report Wednesday by InsideEVs, which questioned whether those who paid a recent price hike on the vehicle took delivery faster than those who didn’t.

Silicon Valley-based Lucid, makers of a high-end luxury electric vehicle, is also setting up a studio in Seattle at University Village in a location that used to be a Microsoft Store. The spot is currently being renovated and a fall opening is planned.

Electric truck maker Rivian is also coming to the area, with a showroom in Seattle and a service center in Bellevue, Wash.
