— Former Impact Hub Seattle Managing Director Sarah Studer is joining Techstars Seattle as the director of platform. Studer was most recently assistant director at the University of Washington’s Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship.

Studer spent six years leading Impact Hub Seattle, one of the city’s first co-working spaces. After Studer’s departure the organization rebranded as Seattle Impact Hall and shut down last year.

As assistant director for the Buerk Center, Studer managed the annual Dempsey Startup competition and Jones + Foster Accelerator program.

In her new role, Studer will work with Techstars Seattle Managing Director Isaac Kato to support the Seattle accelerator program as well as the new Filecoin Techstars Accelerator launching next year.

— Microsoft Research will open a new lab in Amsterdam led by noted physicist Max Welling. Microsoft has already made its first hire for the new lab: senior researcher Rianne van den Berg, formerly of Google Brain and the University of Amsterdam. Read the story.

— Redfin’s former head of industry relations Caitlin McCrory joined Realogy Holdings Corp. as VP of industry relations. Realogy’s real estate-focused portfolio includes Century 21, Coldwell Banker and Sotheby’s International Realty.

Based in Chicago, McCrory had led industry relations for Redfin since 2018 and previously worked for the National Association of Realtors

— Zillow Group’s former Head of Diversity Engagement Lionel Lee departed for Google where he will be director of diversity, equity and inclusion recruiting. Lee started as a consultant for Zillow Group and joined the Seattle-based company full-time in 2017.

“I joined them because I saw an opportunity to change the way Brown, Black, and Women professionals experienced the Corporate environment,” Lee said in a post on LinkedIn.

Lee has a background in technical recruiting. He currently serves as a DEI advisor for startups Included and Candidate, as well as venture firm Voyager Capital.

— Following BitTitan’s acquisition of Perspectium, Craig McDonogh will join the Bellevue, Wash.-based cloud services provider as VP of marketing. McDonogh led Perspectium’s marketing team since 2017.

Prior to Perspectium, McDonogh spent six years in product marketing at ServiceNow. He will be based in BitTitan’s San Diego office.

— Microsoft-owned GitHub appointed former National Security Agency Senior Director Jacob DePriest as VP of security operations. DePriest spent 15 years at the NSA.

“The reason I worked so long in the public sector was about impact – the opportunity to make my country and the world a better place,” said DePriest in a post on LinkedIn.

He added: “For software developers and arguably software in general, there is no company on earth that has the potential for more impact than GitHub.”.

— Enterprise video platform Panopto hired Will Wyatt as chief sales officer. He was most recently vice president of sales and partnerships for Ekata, which was acquired by Mastercard earlier this year.

Wyatt was previously vice president of sales at Whitepages, which spun out its enterprise product Whitepages Pro in 2019 and renamed it Ekata.

Seattle-based Panopto reported significant growth of its platform during the pandemic and shift to remote learning. The company acquired Syracuse, N.Y.-based Ensemble Video in April.
