Update: T-Mobile on Monday confirmed that “unauthorized access to some T-Mobile data occurred” but it has not determined if personal customer data was affected. “We are confident that the entry point used to gain access has been closed, and we are continuing our deep technical review of the situation across our systems to identify the nature of any data that was illegally accessed,” the company said in a statement.

Original story: Hackers may have obtained data on more than 100 million T-Mobile customers, according to a report from Vice, which spotted a forum post over the weekend that claimed to be selling the information. The data includes names, physical addresses, and social security numbers. “We are aware of claims made in an underground forum and have been actively investigating their validity. We do not have any additional information to share at this time,” a T-Mobile spokesperson said in a statement to GeekWire. The possible breach would be one of several that T-Mobile has dealt with over the past few years.
