Shotcall announced a $2.2 million seed round to help grow its platform and marketplace that connects video game streamers with fans.
Founded in 2018, Shotcall enables content creators and influencers to host tournaments, coaching sessions, Q&As, charity events, 1-on-1 competitions, and more with their fans. Hosts can customize the events and charge fees. The company worked with the Seattle Sounders in April to host game streaming events and helped the team collect donations for its COVID-19 Relief Fund.
The Atlanta, Ga.-based company graduated from the Techstars Seattle accelerator earlier this year. Five of the company’s employees, including co-founders Riley Auten and Gordon Li, are based in Seattle. Thomas Gentle, another co-founder, is based in Atlanta.
Initial Capital and New Stack led the round, which also included participation from Lerer Hippeau.
