Kirkland, Wash.-based Systima Technologies is taking on more employees and real estate to work on Defense Department contracts related to hypersonic and long-range weapon systems.

  • The 18-year-old company specializes in high-performance composite structures, shrouds and payload separation systems. Those technologies are critical to high-priority programs such as hypersonic vehicle development, where the Pentagon is scrambling to catch up with China and Russia.
  • To increase production rates, Systima is building new campuses in Maltby, Wash., and farther north at the Port of Skagit. The new facilities will be ready this summer, Systima said in a news release.
  • Systima’s careers website lists 20 job openings, including spots for engineers, clerks, technicians and machine shop workers. For what it’s worth, there are 129 Systima employees on LinkedIn.
