Microsoft said it will not attend the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco due to the coronavirus outbreak. Sony, Facebook, Unity, and other gaming giants previously said they would not attend.

  • “The health and safety of players, developers, employees, and our partners around the world is our top priority,” Microsoft said in a statement. “Especially as the world is experiencing growing public health risks associated with coronavirus (COVID-19).”
  • The decision comes one day after Microsoft said it will miss quarterly revenue guidance for its “More Personal Computing” business segment due to the coronavirus outbreak.
  • Other global tech events such as Mobile World Congress have been canceled due to the virus that has infected around 80,000 people and killed more than 2,700. Facebook canceled its F8 developers conference Thursday.
