A coalition of labor unions — including truck drivers, food workers, and service employees — is pressuring the Federal Trade Commission to investigate Amazon for anti-competitive behavior.

  • Change to Win, an organization that speaks for unions, filed a petition with the FTC asking the agency to review “Amazon’s multiple roles as marketplace, retailer, and logistics and cloud computing provider.”
  • Amazon employees are not part of the unions petitioning the FTC. But the labor coalition is concerned about the ever-expanding company moving in on their industries, according to The New York Times.
  • The FTC has several antitrust investigations into online platforms underway, including into Facebook. The agency has not said whether it is scrutinizing Amazon. The FTC has interviewed some third-party sellers on the e-commerce site, according to the Wall Street Journal.
