Amazon continues to expand its reach into the $3 trillion healthcare industry as new job postings indicate where the company potentially plans to grow.

CNBC reported that Amazon is seeking business development managers to “build and grow relationships with commercial and public sector enterprises” for Amazon Care, its telemedicine service currently only available to employees in Washington state.

The postings indicate possible interest in expanding Amazon Care beyond employees. Amazon launched Amazon Care in September 2019. Virtual healthcare is on the rise as people look for medical advice without going to a physical doctor’s office during the pandemic.

Other recent postings include a business development manager who will “define and execute a strategy for acquiring and managing provider networks.

“We are interested in finding an accomplished Business Development Leader deeply familiar with the healthcare industry, who has overachieved throughout their career and built strong, deep relationships with payers and providers,” Amazon says in the job post.

We’ve reached out to Amazon for more details and will update this story if we hear back.

Amazon’s health and wellness endeavours include its acquisition of online pharmacy Pillpack, its Haven healthcare partnership with JP Morgan Chase and Berkshire Hathaway, and the company’s new Halo health tracking device. The company also sells Amazon Web Services to healthcare customers.

In July Amazon announced plans to establish healthcare facilities for its warehouse workers and their families across the country, starting with a clinic in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Amazon is partnering with the medical group Crossover Health, which works with self-insured employers across the country, to operate and staff the facilities, according to Amazon.
