New funding: Seattle-area wellness startup Viome is raising more cash. A new SEC filing indicates that the company raised $36.4 million of a larger $105 million round. Viome CEO Naveen Jain confirmed the dollar amounts listed in the filing.

Company background: Founded in 2016, Viome analyzes its customers’ microbiomes through stool samples in order to make food recommendations for health or weight loss. The idea is to foster health through microbes, which make up more than half of the cells in the human body. The company sells a $399 (on sale for $149) “Viome Gut Intelligence Kit.”

Viome is Jain’s seventh venture and the first to come out of his Bellevue, Wash.-based BlueDot innovation factory. BlueDot looks for market opportunities for technology developed at leading research labs, with a focus on the health and energy sectors.

Previous funding: Viome raised $25 million this past April from a crop of investors including Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, bringing the startup’s total funding at the time to $45 million.
