Revered by board game fanatics and casual players alike, Catan is one of the most popular table top games in the world, and the family-friendly phenomenon makes a return to the big GeekWire Bash on March 7 in Seattle. As true geeks already know, the action-packed game pits four Settlers in a race to accumulate resources — wheat and ore, please! — on the fictional island of Catan by rolling dice and strategically trading items with other players.

GeekWire and Meeples Games are thrilled to present our annual Catan tournament at the Bash, pitting 20 sheep-trading trading players against one another. However, just one lucky soul will be crowned “Lord of all Catan” — walking away with a hefty prize package courtesy of Meeples. If you need a refresher on the rules of Catan, click here.

Only a few spots remain for this year’s Catan tournament, so register here to secure your spot.

Not a board game nerd? Make sure to register for dodgeball, foosball or ping pong tournaments here.

General admission tickets to the Bash — which draws more than 2,000 participants for a geek field day with VR, robotics, ping pong, video games and more — are available here.  For the first time ever, the GeekWire Bash is family-friendly, so if you’ve got a science or tech-loving geeky kid, make sure to bring out the whole crew.

In addition to the Catan tournament, we are excited to partner with Seattle gaming cafe Meeples on a new Table Top Gaming Zone where casual players can challenge other geeks in a variety of games, from Codenames and Concept to Sagrada and Splendor.

There will also be introductory lessons on Magic: the Gathering with each person receiving a welcome deck.

Led by owner Laura Schneider, Meeples brings a wealth of experience in table top competitions and is also providing a great selection of other board and card games for those looking for a test of wits outside of Catan.

Access to the Table Top Gaming Zone is included in the price of general admission and kids tickets, so be sure to check out this corner of the GeekWire Bash with friends and family.
