“Silicon Valley” wrapped up six seasons on HBO on Sunday night with a series finale called “Exit Event” — and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates entered for a cameo appearance.
Gates makes a very brief appearance in the episode, seated in what appears to be his offices east of Seattle.
“It’s weird,” he said. “It really seemed like Pied Piper was going to work.”
That was it. But the comedy about the tech industry and the characters in and around it had a lasting impact on Gates, who tweeted Sunday night that he was a big fan.
I'm a big fan of @SiliconHBO and was excited when they asked me to appear in the series finale tonight. #AlwaysBlue pic.twitter.com/kDnM81w8IF

That GIF is Gates playing with a Hoberman Switch Pitch ball, which showed up in the past on “Silicon Valley” as the Pied Piper characters played a game called “Always Blue.”
